Optimize Opportunities

Optimize: make the best of

Opportunity: a set of circumstances that makes it possible to do something

Have you ever been in a situation where you thought, oh boy that could have gone better? I'd imagine we all have. The thing to do is move on and optimize the next opportunity. You can't let one mistake define you.

Tell me, how many of you have a business? If you said I do, then how are you networking? Networking will make or break your business. I truly believe the old adage that people don't buy what you sell as much as they buy why you sell it.

I'm involved in a networking group based on building relationships, meeting with other members one on one and referrals. There is no better compliment than a referral. Take every opportunity you can to get to know as many people as you can and learn their business and why they do what they do. Then you can legitimately refer your friends to them and they'll do the same for you. It's the rule of reciprocity.

Each time you have the opportunity, walk up to another and introduce yourself, don't be a wall flower waiting on them to come to you. Most likely each of them are waiting on you to make the first move, don't miss an opportunity to meet what might be your best referral partner by waiting on them to take the initiative.

Optimize your opportunity by getting to know the other person so when you hear someone say they need what that person provides you are ready to connect them. This is how long lasting referral partnerships are formed. This will be the meat and potatoes of your business whether built in person or online.

Now go out and optimize those opportunities to meet your next best referral partner.
