Building Relationships

I love the simplicity of this book and have taken the liberty to add in parenthesis some "adulting" ways to use these ideas in business.

All I Really Need To Know I Learned In Kindergarten

by Robert Fulghum - an excerpt from the book, All I Really Need To Know I Learned in Kindergarten

All I really need to know I learned in kindergarten. ALL I REALLY NEED TO KNOW about how to live and what to do and how to be I learned in kindergarten. Wisdom was not at the top of the graduate-school mountain, but there in the sandpile at Sunday School. These are the things I learned:

Share everything. (Don't keep your ideas under a hat, share and help others) Play fair. (This is so important in business) Don't hit people. (I know grown adults don't normally hit people with our fists, but we sure do with our words/actions) Clean up your own mess. (Own it...your success, your failure) Don't take things that aren't yours. (Don't steal customers from other distributors, there are more than enough to go around) Say you're sorry when you hurt somebody. (if you goof up, admit it, apologize and move on) Wash your hands before you eat. (Stay clean and above board) Flush. (Get rid of all that junk that's bogging you down) Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you. (Take time to relax and enjoy) Live a balanced life - learn some and think some and draw and paint and sing and dance and play and work every day some. Take a nap every afternoon. (Relax often) When you go out into the world, watch out for traffic, hold hands, and stick together. (Keep your eyes open for all that is going on around you and stick together) Be aware of wonder. Remember the little seed in the styrofoam cup: The roots go down and the plant goes up and nobody really knows how or why, but we are all like that. (We all grown in our own way)

It all comes down to some pretty basic stuff, like do unto others as you would have them do unto you .This is very basic but seems lost in our society. Treating people like you want to be treated and truly putting them first will always come back 10 fold.

Remember in the world of direct sales it truly is all about relationships. Relationship between you and your customer, relationship between you and your team member, relationship between you and your hostess, relationship between hostess and her guests. Make everything about relationships and you will never come across as pushy and "salesy".

Now go build those relationships and do good biz.!!
